Dr. Tony Hopkins, Senior Pastor
Tony has been Senior Pastor since September of 2002. Tony completed his undergraduate degree (BA in English) from Furman University and graduated with a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Philosophy (New Testament Studies) from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In April of 2008, Tony began a one year term as Moderator of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of South Carolina, having served on its Missions Committee and Coordinating Council for four years. He pastored the First Baptist Church in Edgefield, SC for ten years and the Eastside Baptist Church in Shepherdsville, KY for almost six years. He also taught New Testament and Greek at Southern Seminary; and currently teaches Old Testament and New Testament at Lander University in Greenwood. His wife Carol, teaches music at Merrywood Elementary School. Tony and Carol have two children, Michelle and Caleb.
Rev. Blake Kendrick, Associate Pastor for Students and Spiritual Formation
Blake joined the staff of Greenwood First Baptist Church in August 2007. He is a 2006 graduate of Duke Divinity School's Baptist House of Studies Program. Blake has served churches in Gastonia and Charlotte, NC, and most recently in Dallas, TX. He was ordained at First Baptist Church on September 16, 2007. His wife, Anna, is a stay at home mom with their son Winston, born in September 2009.
Dr. Ken Lister, Minister of Music
Ken joined the staff as Minister in Music in October of 2003. Ken has served churches in South Carolina and Illinois. He is a graduate of Furman University, the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary School of Church Music, and Erskine Divinity School. Connie, Ken's wife, is a Public School Counselor and English as Second Language teacher. Ken and Connie have two daughters, Kim and Amy. Ken is an adjunct professor of voice at Lander University in Greenwood.
Mr. David Jennings, Minister of Administration
David Jennings joined the staff of Greenwood First Baptist Church in August, 2008 as Minister of Administration. David and his wife, Amy, are both graduates of Belmont University and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. David received his Masters of Divinity Degree in Christian Education. David brings 19 years of ministry experience serving as Minister of Education and Students at FBC Newport, TN and as Associate Pastor at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Cross Plains, TN. David and Amy have one daughter, Jennifer, who is a high school student.
Mrs. Claudia Burch, Director of Children’s Ministry
Claudia became Director of Children's Ministry in May 2008, having served as Director of the Cheerful Cherubs Preschool since 1999. Claudia is a graduate of Furman University. She and her husband, Jay, have three daughters, Catherine, Anna, and Caroline.
