Young-Beaudrot Music Scholarship

The Young-Beaudrot Music Scholarship was established to aid scholars in their musical education and to encourage them to use their talents to enhance church worship to the glory of God.

The scholarship is funded by a Trust Fund established to the honor and memory of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Pope Young and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Louis Beaudrot. The Youngs and Beaudrots became a part of Greenwood First Baptist in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, and the church was a vital part of their lives.  They and their descendants wish to assist others in their music education.

Scholarship recipients will be asked to share their talents with Greenwood First Baptist Church. While students of First Baptist Church and music ministry students have priority, the scholarship committee is guided by the Spirit in their selection of the scholarship recipients. Applications must be received by July 1 of each calendar year. Applications may be emailed to the Minister of Music, David Corbitt or mailed to David's attention.  Please note on the envelope the Young-Beaudrot Music Scholarship.

Tony Stokes Award

The Stokes Award was established in 1990 by the family of Tony Stokes with gifts in his memory. The award is designated for youth of Greenwood First Baptist Church. The award seeks to recognize a graduating high school senior with qualities which Tony felt were important: church participation, strong moral character, fun, sense of purpose, and most of all, Christian faith.

Youth of Greenwood First Baptist are asked to complete the application, giving special attention to question number 8. Applications need to be returned to the church no later than the first Sunday of May.

A committee will review the information and anonymously select a recipient. In addition to a one time scholarship of $500.00, the name of the recipient will be placed on a permanent plaque in the Youth Lounge. This award will be presented during the morning worship service on Senior Recognition Sunday.

Craig Holbrook Parham Scholarship

The Craig Holbrook Parham Scholarship Fund of the First Baptist Church of Greenwood, SC, was established in 1986 to celebrate the life of Craig Holbrook Parham, whose life was filled with exuberance and joy in human relationships.

Craig was an active member of First Baptist church and an enthusiastic participant in the "total church program, from sports to music and the entire range of activities for young people."  Craig was an usher, taught Sunday School, and presided as lay minister for Youth Sunday.  His love for his church, its ministers and congregation, was a reflection of his gregarious nature and his interest in his fellow man.

The Craig Holbrook Parham Scholarship Fund was established for the sole purpose of providing scholarship assistance to students pursuing degrees from accredited theological seminary for full-time Christian service.

The Scholarship Committee reviews every application thoroughly and prayerfully.  Awards are based on determination of need and availability of funds.  It is therefore imperative that all applications be fully completed.  Failure to fully complete the application or omission of any portion of the application will result in automatic rejection.  All Board decisions are final. There is no appeal process.

All applicants must reapply each year; however, photographs, statement of doctrinal belief and pastoral letters of recommendation are not necessary for repeat application.

Application deadline is April 30 of each calendar year.  Applications are to be mailed to the church.  Please note on the envelope the  Craig Holbrook Parham Scholarship.  All applicants are duly notified of Board decisions.  Awards are mailed in August and December.
